Hello neighbors, it's Brad here from etrailer, and today I'm at NATM and this convention brings a lot of the vendors that we have at etrailer to a convention where we have their booths and their products set up. I had a chance to catch up with quite a few of them, so let's take a look at their products a little bit up close and ask some of the questions to those vendors about their products. I'm here with Jason from Gen-Y and today we're talking about goosenecks. Now something with, you know, gooseneck trailers and towing any short bed trucks, you run the risk of potentially damaging cab corners, making sharp turns, or you just won't be able to make those sharp turns, but there's ways to fix that pretty easily. And that's what we have here. Yes, the GoosePuck.
And so it's a five inch offset ball. I really want to just show you guys what that looks like. So this is the stem that fits into your existing where your ball was, right And so pretend that that's the hole, what I'm gonna put it into, that's the hole in the bed of your truck. And now I just move from my existing hole, I move the ball back five inches. And so that's moving the pivot point.
That's how you're going to gain turning radius. We have these models available for the big three, GM, Ford, and Dodge. At the end of the day, it is a absolute game changer when you're towing camper, even your gooseneck trailers, just especially with the short bed trucks, you know, the long beds, you can use it for those as well. But the big thing is for short bed trucks, you know, obviously you're really tight quarters with those trucks. And so it's been a really good and solid product for Gen-Y and I think etrailer has seen some good traction on these things as well.
Yeah, absolutely. And again, nothing against your fifth wheels, but talking about the fifth wheel to gooseneck conversion, you know, that's something that, yes, you can get a fifth wheel that slides. But that also means you're gonna have to get out, move that, and then make the turn. Having this offset means you've eliminated the problem. Exactly.
Yep. So with our fifth to goose pin box that we just talked about, it marries up really, really good with this. So obviously you get the gooseneck ball and then you just, you move your pivot point back and gain, you know, turning radius. We did a test and it was between 60 and 70 on the camper that we tested, and by the time we were done with the GoosePuck it was between 80 and 90 degrees of turning radius. Brad I mean, and that's massive. I mean, especially campsites are never as open as you want them to be. There's always that tree that's in the way. You betcha. Yeah. So if you can make those turns without having to get outta your truck and adjust things, that's, you know, you want it to be as easy as possible and you guys have definitely solved that problem. I do wanna point out, when you receive these, there's three, I think maybe we're making some minor changes to this in the future, but nevertheless, very minor assembly required. These are loose when you get 'em, but this wing is separate. But also the nice thing is if for any reason that you would have to have it serviced for, you know, whatever, if there's any damage to it, you don't have to, you know, ship the whole thing back. It can, this piece can ship separately, this can ship separately. It's all for the consumer. We wanna make sure the consumer has a great experience and minimal assembly is required. The safety chains, we're working on a model that has the safety chains incorporated, at the moment we don't have them incorporated into the GoosePuck, however, we do have safety chains that we manufacture in house as well. So these are just drop in and when you open it, you set it down and when you lock it, they lock into place. And then you've got this piece here that just makes it lock together. So huge thanks to Jason from Gen-Y for taking the time to break down the offset gooseneck ball. Really a great option if you have a short bed truck, you know, this is something that you should consider, especially if you're going from a fifth to goose. But really just having that turning radius, it's, I mean, that's gonna make your towing experience that much better. No, I appreciate again, you guys taking the time to do a video on this hot piece. This is a really, really good addition to our lineup and it's not let us down. In fact, it's exceeded our expectation to be honest. So we we inchesre just very happy with you guys doing the video on it.

Great product, fits perfectly for the Ram puck system on my 2024 Ram 2500,very well constructed and very good quality, I would highly recommend anyone needing a 5 inch offset for a short bed truck.
Great item. Super quick shipping, quick and easy assembly and installation.
Using to pull a 5th wheel camper with a short bed truck so moving the trailer back 5" from cab makes a big difference. Never an issue with clearance now.
It seems well built and does the job of giving you more clearance; however, at the cost of shifting weight from the front axle of the tow vehicle to the rear axle. That cost for me personally is too high for my set up it unloaded the front by 140lbs and added 540lbs to the rear axle. Requesting an RMA to send it back.

We will be using this to tow a fifth wheel trailer with a Gen Y executive gooseneck hitch. This gooseneck hitch with 5 inch extension was extremely easy to assemble and even easier to install.
I installed the Gen-Y hitch this morning and it fit perfectly! Looking forward to the extra 5 inches of clearance this product will provide our short bed dually. As always, etrailer provided the very best of service with competitive pricing.
Both box’s were broken open. Packing was inadequate for the weight of the product. Installation instructions were missing, probably lost enroute.
Exactly what I expected! Secure fit and well built. The shipping box was
not in the same condition with the Y bar poked through and It fell on my kitchen
tile.. You need to get a heavier duty box!!!
Received and assembled the 5" extender but will not have any feedback until the hitch is installed on my 5th wheel.
I towed my 15,705 GVWR horse trailer on this setup for about 350 miles without incident, although there are a few things about this hitch that don't exactly inspire confidence. The pins that fit into the forward pucks, which prevent the ball from rotating, aren't long enough to provide a secure interface. Without much effort, I can lift the pin on both sides entirely out of the hole in the puck (see video). This would feel more secure if these pins were captive in the puck and could not be lifted out. Gen-Y should probably consider beefing up the "wing" with heavier material, making the pins longer, or making them captive. Given the cost of this unit, it is not the quality I would expect. Your mileage may vary.

UPDATE: eTrailer referred me to Gen-Y customer support. Gen-Y sent a set of pin spacers to me at no cost. These allow the pins deeper engagement into the pucks, and has remedied my initial complaint. The hitch seems very solid now.
At time of purchase I would have rated this hitch 5 stars but it has been superseded by a newer version that has several improvements over this older model.
Nonetheless, if you have an opportunity to purchase this model as a new/leftover or used at a good price go for it.
I purchased this because I was worried the short bed of my truck would allow the cap of my 5th wheel to contact the cab and the offset would allow a tighter turn. It does work as specified though the design of most modern 5th wheel caps makes the offset unnecessary.
The unit is well built and much easier to install and remove than any conventional 5th wheel hitch. When not in use I store mine on a wall of my carport.

Have been using this on multiple trips. Performs flawlessly. Wanted the is offset to provide peace of mind on those tight turns. Perfect for standard bed size. When in use we remove the tailgate, and use a mesh gate.

The product seems sturdy (solid). Fits extremely tight into the gooseneck mounting hole. Definitely needed to loosen the side insert nuts to fit into the puck slots. 20 ft lbs doesn't seem like a lot of torque on the assembly bolts, but followed the instructions. Happy with the extra space between tailgate/trailer, tighter turns, and didn't change how the trailer pulls. Hopefully this will help me avoid damage to my truck and park in tighter spots.
It shipped and arrived earlier than promised. It was packaged really nicely. Installation and assembly was simple and straightforward. I did find that leaving all the bolts loose until I had it installed on the truck made it easier. I’d definitely buy it again.
Took a little while to get the hitch. It had to be shipped from the manufacture to E-trailer. I was given other options of hitches that were in stock. I am glad I waited. All nuts and bolts were included in the packaging and no extra drilling to make the unit to fit. I like how it created extra space between the travel trailer and the back of the cab.
Haven't towed with it yet but seems well made, little pricey for what it is but works perfect with the puck system .
Easy to assemble and install. Very beefy. Have to figure away to lock it, so not to get stolen. Was hoping for a sticker in the box.
The hitch was awesome, used it this past weekend to pull my new camper. The offset makes it possible to almost jack knife the camper when backing. Product was shipped fast just missing some part due to busting open during shipping. Called ettailer and they shipped me a new one out that night. Second box was busted open as well but I was able to get the parts that I was missing. I would like to see something that heavy shipped in a heavy duty box, the box was pretty flimsy to say the least.
Base plate is from generation one, and the some parts from the second generation. Upon the first one O returned requested generation 2. Due to to being an upgraded version with more welds. The product itself is absolutely amazing quality, we had a short bed F-350 and used this . Now we upgraded to a short bed Dually Ram 3500 so needed to change puck system. But not sure if it was Etrailer or Gen Y caused the mismatched items in both attempts… been 3 weeks and still wait I for help correcting . Customer service here is SECOND TO NONE!! Or else I would’ve cut my loses, so thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will

As a family we decided to go full time in our RV but knew we wanted a Ram megacab DRW to tow our 45ft toy hauler. We ar also avid mountain bikers and knew a sliding hitch would not leave us any room for our bikes when unhitched. So this combined with the Gen-Y gooseneck was a no brainer. Since getting this set up, we have traveled about 25k miles and it has been flawless! Super easy install and rides great. We have gotten into tight back in spots and even pulled off a few u-turns with no worries of hitting the cab(and we even have a headache rack). Plus…no more sketchy “tug tests” with a 5th wheel hitch. Drop it down on the ball till the latch clicks over, jack it up till the back of the truck starts to rise(that way you know it’s good and latched) and then back down again. Wouldn’t change the decision to get this adapter and the gooseneck hitch for anything! ESP if you have a shortbed

Glad we could help! Heck of a set up too! This style pin box is definitely the way to go. What has been your favorite place to ride so far? My family used to go up to Mammoth Mountain in California every summer when I was growing up for the bike trails. Skid Marks and Off The Top to Beach Cruiser were always fun ones! I highly recommend it if you have never been and you are in the area. : )
